SXRT is a safe treatment option for all patients with the following skin conditions:
- Basal cell cancers (BCC’s)
- Squamous cell cancers ( SCC’s)
- Bowen’s disease (IEC)
- Haematological diseases of the skin
- Keloids
- After incomplete surgery for skin cancers
NO
SXRT cannot be used:
- In Pregnancy
- In Gorlins syndrome
- Occasionally for technical reasons
- In advanced skin cancers
- Without consent
CAUTION
SXRT should be used with caution in the following circumstances:
- In an area that has had radiation treatment in the past
- In younger patients
- In patients with connective tissue disease
- In patients on chemotherapy
- In melanoma
The SXRT Process

- SXRT involves the accurate delivery of low energy X-rays to treat skin cancer.
- Skin cancers that are suitable for SXRT, are identified at the initial consultation.

- A typical course of treatment takes between 5 and 20 visits depending on the location of the skin cancer and other factors.
